Topic: Studying English at school in Japan

〈Introduction〉
General ideas, background:
Some people oppose that studying English at elementary school in Japan.

Thesis: Children study English as a second language from elementary school.

〈Reasons〉
①critical period hypothesis--people acquiried language easily and quickly
when they are young.

②it takes long time for Japanese to speak English, compared to other
non English speakers.

③students can learn different cultures, also know own culture.

〈Problems〉
①a curriculum is made for getting high marks on exams, but the exams are not
communicative.

②the number of English teachers is not enough.

〈Conclusion〉
Summary

My opinion: class should be interactive, and have more opportunity to speak
and use English
