http://www.nytimes.com/2007/11/25/weekinreview/25rich.html
The article told that American students didn't read so much for pleasure as before, but for information, enlightenment or practical advice. It influences the basic reading comprehension skills in some way. Though the parents, teacher and librarian's reading a lot may become influential, reading books is a relatively private act, and some just didn't get the right book at the right time to transform them into book lovers. Reading is so exciting that one can find himself and discover the unknown world even when someone may getsimilar experience in narrative and vivid characters in TV show or films. But with a highlylower budget than other medias, books are still quite welcomed by large group of people.

Introduction

Reading is always considered to be one of the essential abilities for people to deeply understand themselves and others co-existing in the world. But the students in universities now tend to read much less than before. Reading has become less popular among youth group in campus. There are too many other attractions to consume the spare time. And even they are reading, it's more for exams and essays rather than forpleasure. The true value of books should be reconsidered serioussly. Reading not only brings the exciting experience of walking into an imagenary world and meeting various personalities, but also provides the lucky readers with remarkable chances to communicate with masters. It's books that bring people together and convey human civilization generation by generation.
